Private Preview: Azure Backup for AKS Now Supports Azure File Share-based Persistent Volumes

Microsoft has unveiled a major enhancement in Azure Backup for Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) that now supports Azure File Share-based Persistent Volumes. This feature is currently in Private Preview and aims to bring more flexibility and reliability to how users manage data within AKS applications. With this upgrade, users can utilize snapshot-based backups, extending the previous support for Azure Disks to now include Azure File Shares. This development is particularly beneficial for organizations seeking efficient and comprehensive data protection solutions in their cloud-native environments, allowing for seamless backups and restores without having to resort to third-party tools.

With the integration of Azure File Share-based Persistent Volumes in AKS, clients have more options to tailor their storage strategies according to their specific needs. These snapshots are aimed at improving data recovery times and minimizing potential data loss by securing states of the file systems at regular intervals. As the capability is in Private Preview, interested users can keep a close eye on Azure updates for broader availability and general release details.

Hi, I’m Oskar!

Cloud architect by day, tech tinkerer by night, and a proud father all the time. Born in 1990 in Poland and now based in Germany, I spend my days diving deep into cloud, Azure, and all things technology. But my passions go beyond the digital world – I love DIY projects, home automation, biking, gardening, and cooking (because good food fuels great ideas).

This little blog is where I share my insights, experiments, and thoughts on cloud tech – because let’s be honest, the internet can always use one more tech enthusiast’s perspective.
